What is Sensei?

Sensei is a wellness hospitality brand offering retreats in some of the most secluded and inspiring destinations in the world, designed to meet you at any point on your wellness journey. To deepen your experience, Sensei Guides and highly trained practitioners support your wellbeing journey with evidence-based practices, cutting-edge technology and decades-long knowledge to deepen the impact of your stay. Sensei applies data-driven health knowledge and utilizes technology to create premier experiences and promote preventive care and healthy lifestyle practices.

Who are the founders?

Sensei was founded by technology pioneer Larry Ellison and renowned physician Dr. David Agus, who were brought together by the loss of a close friend and motivated by a shared purpose: to help people live longer, healthier lives.

How is a Sensei stay different from a traditional wellness retreat? 

At Sensei, we approach wellbeing as an ongoing practice rather than the pursuit of a singular end goal. Our approach is shaped by scientists and physicians from around the world, marshaled by Dr. David Agus, and supported by an integrated team that continuously vets, refines, and evolves our programs through research, data, and evidence-based insights. Our wellness experiences are facilitated by Guides and practitioners with decades of experience, allowing us to offer support that is thoughtful, sustainable, and deeply personalized. Unlike other retreats, which often rely on prescriptive or one-size-fits-all itineraries, we take time to understand each guest’s individual goals and lifestyle. Through one-on-one support, evidence-led recommendations, and attentive care, we curate a stay that is uniquely tailored to the individual.

What is The Sensei Way?

The Sensei Way is our evidence-led philosophy centered on balancing our three simple paths for everyday living: Move, Nourish and Rest. Move explores practices through breath, strength and flexibility to meet your unique needs and establish healthy habits. Nourish encompasses the practices that fuel you, helping you understand what your body and mind need to feel its best. Rest involves the practices that help you unwind and tune into your body, leading to greater creativity and productivity by giving the brain a chance to relax and refresh.

How do I begin planning a Sensei experience?

We pride ourselves on personalizing each stay. You may book with us online, or we invite you to call us to learn more and work alongside our Pre-Arrival team to find the experience that works best for you and your goals.

How long is the ideal stay?

All properties require a two-night minimum. Packages range from two nights to five nights, and many can be extended to fit your desired length of stay. For stays of one month or longer, we offer a sabbatical experience. Guests with a room-only reservation are welcome to book services, but a package is the best way to get the most out of your visit.

Can I bring my kids to Sensei?

Sensei at Zadún, our property in Los Cabos, Mexico is open to all ages through our partnership with Ritz-Carlton. Sensei Lānaʻi and Sensei Porcupine Creek are open to guests ages 18 and older. Guests 16 and older can stay with us if accompanied by an adult.

How do I know which package is right for me?

We appreciate that each guest comes to Sensei with different goals. We recommend familiarizing yourself with our packages and checking in with yourself on what interests you most. Focusing on a wellness intention for your stay can help indicate which package would be right for you. Our pre-arrival team is happy to assist with planning your stay. Do I need to book a package to stay at Sensei?

Guests are welcome to book a room-only stay and purchase wellness services à la carte, however oftentimes a package is most beneficial to ground your experience in the entirety of the Sensei Way.

Lānaʻi FAQs

What is Sensei Lānaʻi?

On the secluded island of Lānaʻi sits Sensei’s very first wellbeing retreat. In a unique collaboration between Sensei, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and dining by Nobu, our expansive Hawaiian property creates an unparalleled experience for our guests, featuring a renowned sculpture collection, lush gardens, and an array of wellbeing facilities, from private 1,000-square-foot spa hale to a Yoga Pavilion and more.

How do I get to Sensei Lānaʻi?

Lānaʻi can be accessed from Honolulu through a 30-minute semi-private flight on Lānaʻi Air, provided complimentary to all guests.

Is my Lānaʻi Air flight included in my stay?

Yes, roundtrip flights from Honolulu to Lānaʻi are included through Lānaʻi Air, as well as transportation from the airport to our property.

What is the stay format and minimum? 

Guests at Sensei Lānaʻi can sign up for one of our packages or create their own itinerary with a minimum stay of 2 nights. Our pre-arrival team is available to assist with planning your stay.

What kinds of activities are offered? 

We offer a range of different activities for individuals and groups alike. Guests can embark on one of our packages, or delve into any number of experiences seen on our Menu of Experiences, from Wellbeing Consultations to Spa Services, or Island Activities. While here, we also encourage you to take part in any of our complimentary small group classes, listed on our Weekly Activity Calendar.

What are the accommodation types? 

Accommodations at Sensei Lānaʻi range from Kōʻele and Kōʻele Deluxe Rooms to our larger Kaiholena Suite. All accommodations are conveniently located and can be accessed on foot. Each space extends an invitation to let the island in, flooded with natural light and designed to promote a sense of stillness and reflection.

What are my dining options when I stay?

Dining at Sensei Lānaʻi is brought to you exclusively by Sensei by Nobu, a collaboration between world-renowned Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Sensei co-founder Dr. David Agus. Crafted with fresh ingredients that stay true to how nature delivers them, each meal is designed to ignite the senses and provide optimal benefits. In addition to the main dining room, guests can gather for a bite at the Kōʻele Garden Bar or enjoy poolside or in-room dining. Sensei guests are also able to enjoy dining at Four Seasons Lānaʻi, our sister resort on the coast, which features Nobu, Malibu Farm, Osteria Mozza, and Views.

What should I know before visiting? 

Before visiting Sensei Lānaʻi, guests should set their wellness intention and view our package offerings to find what will be the right fit for their stay. Guests may also find it helpful to explore our activities calendar and experiences menu when planning their visit to fit their interests. Scheduling classes and experiences in advance will help ensure availability as spaces are limited.

How far is Sensei from the beach?

Transportation from Sensei Lānaʻi to the beach is provided on a shared shuttle service that runs hourly. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes.

Can I visit Sensei’s sister resort, Four Seasons Lānaʻi during my stay?

Yes, all Sensei guests can enjoy access and signing privileges at our sister resort, including beach and beach club facilities, dining and more.

What is Sensei Porcupine Creek? 

Set within the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains near Palm Springs, California, an unparalleled wellbeing experience awaits you. Sensei Porcupine Creek, wholly managed by Sensei, has transformed a private Rancho Mirage estate into an intimate wellness retreat featuring peerless golf and tennis facilities, luxurious accommodations, lush spa gardens and Sensei by Nobu dining exclusively for resort guests.

How do I get to Sensei Porcupine Creek?

Sensei Porcupine Creek is located in Rancho Mirage, California, roughly 25 minutes by car from the Palm Springs International airport.

What is the stay format and minimum? 

Guests at Sensei Porcupine Creek can book a structured package or create their own itinerary with a minimum stay of 2 nights. Our pre-arrival team is available to assist with planning your stay.

What kinds of activities are offered?

Dining at Sensei Porcupine Creek is brought to you exclusively by Sensei by Nobu, a collaboration between world-renowned Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Sensei co-founder Dr. David Agus. Crafted with fresh ingredients that stay true to how nature delivers them, each meal is designed to ignite the senses and provide optimal benefits. Our ever-changing dining menu includes selections that incorporate Sensei’s nutritional (Nourish) philosophy as well as traditional classic dishes by Nobu. Dining is available in our dining room, outside, at our sushi bar, or in-room.

What are the accommodation types? 

Set in the heart of Sensei Porcupine Creek, every style of accommodation creates your own personal sanctuary with luxuriously appointed details and thoughtful amenities. Choices include ten Estate Rooms, four Casitas and eight standalone one, two or four-bedroom Villas.

Is golf available for non-guests?

To maintain privacy for our guests and ensure peace of play on our course, golf at Sensei Porcupine Creek is reserved exclusively for resort guests and is not available to the public.

Zadún FAQs

What is Sensei at Zadún? 

Set on the tranquil shores of Los Cabos, Mexico, Sensei at Zadún is our first international locale, located within the grounds of Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Our dedicated 30,000-square-foot Sensei wellness area blends Sensei’s evidence-led approach to wellbeing with the destination’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and exceptional hospitality. In addition to curated multi-day retreat packages, our services are available à la carte to resort guests, and open to locals as part of The Sensei Club, our exclusive membership.

How do I get to Sensei at Zadún?

Sensei at Zadún is located about 40 minutes from the San José del Cabo airport.

What is the stay format and minimum? 

Guests interested in Sensei treatments and classes are encouraged to book a package in order to experience all that our team has to offer. Alternatively, guests may book room-only and reserve Sensei services in advance.

What kinds of activities are offered?

We offer a range of different activities for individuals and groups alike. Guests can embark on one of our packages, or delve into any number of experiences seen on our Menu of Experiences, from Wellbeing Consultations to Spa Services and Cultural Enrichment. What are my dining options when I stay?

In San José del Cabo, food is an expression of love, a connection to community, the heart of a family. Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve brings this to life through multiple dining options including Humo, El Barrio, X (Equis), and Candil Agave Bar.

What are the accommodation types? 

Along gently sloping dunes overlooking the Sea of Cortés in San José del Cabo, luxury suites and villas reflect the land and those who sprung from it. Here, nature is invited within and resort guests encouraged to venture out: sliding glass doors replace traditional walls, terraces are an extension of home, with private plunge pools providing tranquility and the opportunity to take in fresh air.
